In combination with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) when the patient has had an inadequate response to UDCA, or
As monotherapy when the patient cannot tolerate UDCA.
Elafibranor is not recommended in patients with decompensated cirrhosis, such as those with ascites, variceal bleeding, or hepatic encephalopathy.
Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC)
It is indicated in adults with PBC who:
- Have an inadequate response to UDCA, or
- Cannot tolerate UDCA.
It may therefore be used either with UDCA or alone, depending on the patient's clinical situation.

Indications for Lucielafib Elafibranor 80mg Tablets 30's
Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC)
It is indicated in adults with PBC who:
- Have an inadequate response to UDCA, or
- Cannot tolerate UDCA.
It may therefore be used either with UDCA or alone, depending on the patient's clinical situation.
Therapeutic Effects of Lucielafib Elafibranor 80mg Tablets 30's
Through PPAR activation, elafibranor helps modify abnormal metabolic and inflammatory processes associated with PBC.
One of the clinically important effects is a reduction in alkaline phosphatase (ALP), a biochemical marker associated with cholestatic liver disease.
In simple terms:
PBC → bile-duct injury → impaired bile flow → cholestatic liver injury
Elafibranor → PPAR activation → modulation of bile-acid/metabolic pathways → reduction in biochemical markers such as ALP

Hormonal contraceptives
Elafibranor may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives containing ethinyl estradiol.
Women of reproductive potential should avoid ethinyl-estradiol-containing contraceptives and use an alternative.
Statins
When used with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins), there may be an increased risk of muscle injury.
Rifampin
Rifampin may reduce exposure to elafibranor and its active metabolite and potentially result in a delayed or suboptimal biochemical response.
If rifampin is started during treatment, the physician should monitor the patient's biochemical response, including ALP and bilirubin.

UnsafeAvoid use during pregnancy unless specifically directed by the treating physician. Pregnancy should be excluded before treatment in females of reproductive potential.

BreastFeeding
UnsafeBreastfeeding is not recommended during treatment and for 3 weeks after the final dose.

Liver
CautionUse with particular caution in patients with cirrhosis. Mild hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh A) requires no dosage adjustment. Elafibranor is not recommended in decompensated cirrhosis and discontinuation should be considered if the patient progresses to moderate/severe hepatic impairment.

Lungs
Consult your doctorNo specific major pulmonary warning is highlighted in the current label. However, new or unexplained breathing symptoms should be medically evaluated.

Alcohol
Consult your doctorThere is no specific alcohol interaction identified in the prescribing information. However, because elafibranor is used in patients with liver disease and can cause liver injury, excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided and discussed with the treating physician.

Driving
Consult your doctorThere is no specific prohibition against driving. However, dizziness or other adverse effects may impair the ability to drive safely.

Kidney
SafeThe current prescribing information does not recommend a specific dosage adjustment based on renal impairment. Kidney function should nevertheless be considered as part of overall clinical monitoring.
